Happy Summer and Mortal Things by Marie Lu

It is the first day of summer, Father's Day, and the first Sunday in a while that I have not run.   I broke my wrist so I am forced to sit on my magical porch with my happy plants,  watching my chickens, and keeping an eye on George, (our indoor cat who likes to play like she is a savage outdoor cat, 2 feet from the door, under my watchful eye).
How did it break my wrist at the beginning is summer you ask?  Well, it is a funny story.   I won't bore you with all the details but I will tell you that I orchestrated an after dinner mountain bike ride and then proceed to ride like a 25 year old,  (which clearly,  I am not).  I have to spend four weeks in a cast that isn't waterproof. Ugh.  So... since I have all this downtime,  I finished the most amazing book I received an advanced copy of from Netgalley.  It comes out in October so put it on your calendar.   This one has all the feels! It is a fantasy, thriller, love story about friendship, commitment, and trust.

Marie Lu... You are in danger of becoming my favorite author!   This storyline, about gods and mortals, is somehow so new and fresh and unique!   I love the found family aspect and even though it was so sad in parts, I felt comforted the more I read.   This is an absolute gem of a book!
